China's liaison office says march slogans were 'inappropriate' | SCMP
The central government liaison office in Hong Kong on Friday morning said some slogans used during Thursday's protest were inappropriate......The office did not specify which slogans it regarded as inappropriate.
......Democratic Party chairman Yeung Sum said the liaison office's comments showed it did not understand people's aspirations. He said the office should not limit the freedom of speech of Hong Kong people. Mr Yeung added: "There was not a single slogan pin-pointing or challenging the central government."
......Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong vice-chairman Ip Kwok-him said some slogans were too extreme. He cited the slogans "asking for someone to step down" as an example.
......Liberal Party chairman James Tien Pei-chun said this year's slogans were "a lot warmer than last year".
Liberal Party legislator Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yee said the march had proceeded peacefully. Ms Chow said her party supported universal suffrage and believed that by 2012 Hong Kong would have the "necessary requirements" for it.
Legislator David Chu Yu-lin on Friday warned of unrest - particularly if the authorities continue ignoring people's aspirations for democracy.......
